Bay area re-cone?

I have a 604-16x with a LF voice coil that is rubbing. I was thinking of getting a new cone from Great Plains and having someone local install it. Can anyone recommend a good place for a re-cone job around San Jose or Santa Cruz CA?

I would seriously just consider having Bill do them at GPA. He did a beautiful job on my 416 recones recently ! Costs more (shipping) , but what doesn't for a good job.

Yeah, I still may do that. I've just had some really bad luck shipping heavy items. Even with incredible packing.

GPA have packing suggestions on their website.
Double box it, bolt the driver to plywood.

The folks up at A Brown Soun have probably seen as many Altecs as anyone. Not sure if the current crew has much experience or where they source parts but they are worth a call to discuss. The trip up to San Rafael from San Jose is a ways but I have done this a couple of times just to avoid boxing up very heavy pieces.
